Purpose statement
Save Our Sons Duchenne Foundation funded Doctors and nurses in our major children's hospitals to ensure clinical trials come to Australia; we funded PhD candidates to start early research careers into treatment for DMD/BMD. SOSDF also advocated for the HTA recommendations submitted to government and life insurances changes to improve outcomes for those living with DMD/BMD. Our advocacy raises the voice of the Duchenne and Becker communities. We work with the Australian Patience Advocacy Alliance, Rare Voices, the Muscular Dystrophy Associations across Australia and many other groups who support rare conditions. SOSDF successfully advocated to bring clinical trials for Becker patients to Australia. this is a first for the Becker community and we are proud our work encouraged this to happen in Australia. SOSDF have had an amazing Scientific Conference in September 2024, brining Dr and specialists from around the world and parents and adults with DMD together.
